yeah, Shawn, and she ALMOST shows an armpit ...
I used to think - long sleeves ... dont' show that arm or armpit .. always struggling with lust when I see those armpits, ya know.

That was supposed to be Amish family
  • David M. Coe · 2 years ago
While I would consider this an extreme... a lot of what is worn these days is just not right! You know... dental floss and daisies.
  • ryan · 2 years ago
    I think they're hot!
  • Crystal Renaud · 2 years ago
ding ding... winner. dumbest thing i've seen today.
  • alexsandra · 2 years ago
    I will be charitable...
Their heart is in the right place. Not being conformed to this world kind of thing.
But it's just not attractive....black dress on the beach? although for the Amish it probably should be longer.

As a parent...sometimes you wanna just cover up your beautiful daughter from gawkers...

but it could have been done better. i'm just saying.
  • alexsandra · 2 years ago
    ahhhh....
just realized culotter swimmer is wearing my old gym class uniform from back in the day...
  • Gene · 2 years ago

  • tunz · 2 years ago
All it took was a leering look from a college guy this summer, did you hear me say college guy, at my 12 year old daughter to think this is perfectly fine and maybe not long or black enough. Ok Kennedy, I am just kidding...
  • Meagan · 2 years ago
omg did we just step back to the 1700's...yiks!!! whats wrong with wearing a big t-shirt and a pair of shorts over your one piece. thats what i used to do...gosh sorry but thats just ridiculous!!!
  • Abs · 2 years ago
    Wow... 'nuff said
  • Tim · 2 years ago
3For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. 4Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
  • Dave Stagl · 2 years ago
Ummm...what were you looking for when you found that?
  • justin aka j rocka · 2 years ago
    http://loveisaverb.wordpress.com/2007/08/11/urm/

Los you used to be the innovator man!

Anyway, yeah this has to be some dumb Christian idea.
When do we have good ones?

This ranks right up there with Air1 and the 700 Club.
  • Tim · 2 years ago
I think it is ugly, and I wouldn't want my wife to wear it, but ton of stuff out there is. No need make fun of something whose intentions were in the right place.
  • Larissa · 2 years ago
    I agree with Justin. :)
  • justin aka j rocka · 2 years ago
so i just saw that you did link Brandi...sorry bro.

    uhhh...I miss you.
  • Stephanie · 2 years ago
I think this company is doing more than a lot of Christians to try to be modest in an immodest culture. It looks funny to us... but should it? Shouldn't women wearing underwear (bathing suits) in front of men who are not their husbands look more funny to us than this ad?
  • Stevo27andGrowing · 2 years ago
    wow...now that was funny.

I'm actually starting a swim company for Christian males that utilizes the "Bro" from Seinfeld as a swim top. The way I see it...Mens' pecks have been tempting too many women for too long and it's time we covered up too.

    ;)

Re: what justin aka j rocka wrote

Thanks for the reminder that I haven't listened online to Air1.com for a while now... I'm tuning in now because it is actually enjoyable for the most part, and at work (or anywhere), you can't beat having your thoughts directed God-ward in music (even with KLOVE cheese)...
and tho I haven't watched 700 club in eons, gotta tell you I remember it being on in the house when growing up, and doing everything I could to blink back tears when they showed stories of people around the world who's lives have been changed by Jesus. They're still doing it today, bringing the good news to many who would otherwise not know; showing people here stories of our brothers & sisters in places like rural China; and serving masses in crisis through their Operation Blessing outreach.
Both of those "dumb Christian ideas" actually aren't, you know?

I am not trying to be an apologist for christian radio or tv.

Yeah, those swimsuits are ridiculous looking. But as Christians we all can work on having some fresh ideas & creativity without "relevance" meaning we are indistinguishable from the world; or simply copying each note from the latest p&w cd in our own services; or there being a line of demarkation (read: judgemental dismissals, eye rolling, snickers whatever) between "Cool Christians" and "Fundie-ish Christians"--both of whom may be very sincere in their dedication to Jesus. It's something that annoys me, probably because I deal with it.

    For what it's worth.
  • metromom · 2 years ago
Maybe you should have your wife take the catalog with her next time she does a JC's Girls event. It might help you know....

    :)

(Not mocking this idea. The idea COULD be cool, but the fashion they have chosen...so not cool. Some Hurley long board shorts with a loose fitting rash guard could be a way for someone to be modest and yet...cool. These fashions are far too awkward to be relevant. A desire to be modest isn't bad)
  • tony · 2 years ago
they could wear burlap sacks if they want. guys will still look. we're pigs.
  • john · 2 years ago
    tony = so correct!
  • justin aka j rocka · 2 years ago
Sorry Lana, I am not trying to stir up a bunch of trouble and controversy, but c'mon!

Operation blessing was a great tool for Pat Robertson and his cronies to mine for diamonds in Zaire. Very few of those trips were "Blessing Operations" unless you were Pat Robertson's pockets. The 700 Club is nothing but a front for Right Wing Fundamentalists who care that the rich stay rich and war goes on. That does not sound like Jesus to me.

Of course they dilute attention from the things they are involved in with the actual ministry they do, that is fine. I was not referring to that. I am sure lives are changed. I just think the 700 Club is part of Christianity that people see and roll their eyes. Maybe if somebody like Rob Bell was on it would be better. But hey God bless America and our rightful place as a world leader. blech.

As for Air1, I just think the music is bad. That is my personal opinion. I just hate when Christians are mediocre at things we should be leading the way in. Maybe if Air1 diversified their playlists or something. I know a bunch of Christian bands that don't rip off other bands and they sound great. Go buy a mewithoutYou record. You won't hear them on Air1. Now that I think of it Tobey Mac needs airplay, so maybe they serve a purpose.

Either way, those swimsuits are ridiculous. At least put some thought into design. They look like they should come with parachutes strapped to their backs.
  • Daley Hake · 2 years ago
    brilliant!
I'm so making my daughter wear that some day.
  • Skyler Goodman · 2 years ago
Finally! Someone had the guts to call it out! Do they carry these in a XXL?
  • rob reed · 2 years ago
My only problem with this is that it is missing a waterproof burka. Get the waterproof burka going and I'm sold! Where can I buy stock?

And, can we convince this company to market this stuff as tasteful lingerie?
  • Jackie · 2 years ago
I agree with Stephanie. This bathing wear should not look so ridiculous to us. Our culture is far too immodest. We are more worried about looking sexy than we are about pleasing God.
  • Los · 2 years ago
I think we can look sexy and please God.
Just look at J-rocka and Daley
  • Crystal Renaud · 2 years ago
hey, i found a plus to this: no tan lines.
  • rob reed · 2 years ago
If being immodest about our naked bodies was pleasing to God, he would have made sure we came out of the womb with fig leaves at the very least.
  • Los · 2 years ago
    Preach it Rob Reed.
I think this is whack. But then again, I did not marry the woman in the picture.
And no. Sohaila will not be wearing those. I am almost more scared of the guys who pursue that than I am the guys who don't.
    Los
  • nancy · 2 years ago
i actually know someone that makes her daughter wear worse than that to swim. her sons aren't allowed to swim without t-shirts on.
  • Johnny Laird · 2 years ago
The BLACK/TROPICAL color combo is particulary fetching...
  • tony · 2 years ago
it's certainly possible that the owners of the company have a passion for modesty...

it's also certainly possible that they couldn't care less about modesty, but have identified a certain demographic who will buy this stuff, so they're looking to make a buck on it.

    who knows.

capitalism at its' finest. God bless America...

    http://www.albertmohler.com/documents/ModelingM...

Pages 7 and 8 of this article relate to what the conversation seems to be about here. I find this article helpful in the discussion on modesty.
  • erin · 2 years ago
i posted on the wrong post i think these are amazing can i get some for the host team ladies!!! :~)
  • Kari · 2 years ago
OK. Must chime in because this is disturbing! I read the article that Stephanie linked to and I respectfully disagree with almost everything that the nice lady said. Especially the part about a woman being responsible for a man's sin! The bottom line is THERE ARE NO DIFINITIVE RULES in the Bible when it comes to how we should dress. I hate it when people make up rules and then claim that they are in the Bible somewhere. UGH!
  • Jamon*Abercrombie · 2 years ago
i guess it could help with skin cancer prevention?
  • Jackie · 2 years ago
Los, I suppose we can look sexy and please God, too. But do we want to? Maybe you're defining "sexy" in a different way than I am. If by "sexy" you mean trendy, nice to look at -- that's fine. But to me and to a lot of other people, it carries a stronger conotation. It's more than that. For a woman, it means showing more skin than perhaps is advisable, or maybe wearing tighter clothes than the average person, or just exhuding a flirtatious nature that might not be appropriate. Essentially, it's looking good to the opposite sex. In my opinion, sexy is GREAT with your spouse, but we each have to be careful about how we are presenting ourselves to others. As Christians particularly, we should be careful about what we wear and how we talk and what we do, because we are the light of the world telling others about Jesus.
