  • Larry Boatright · 1 year ago
sleep... what is that? I usually go to bed by midnight... get up by 5.
Not sure that's the best. My mind races...

tonight I was going to go to bed but ended up iChatting with some hoodlums... then got an e-mail that my pre-order of the new Alanis Morisette record was available for download... so I did that and am listening to that...

    Sheesh... g'nite (sometime) :)
  • Tyler Braun · 1 year ago
i try to sleep from midnight to 8am. i need/want 8 hours to function at 100%
  • gbrad@mag · 1 year ago
I go to bed between 1 & 3 'cause I fall asleep on the floor while I'm "watching" tv programs my wife finds entertaining, but I'm functional on 4-5 hrs. a night. Usually I take an hour of quiet time of prayer before actually getting into the bed
  • Jamie Waddy · 1 year ago
I never go to bed before 12 or 1 (obviously...hence the time of my post) I rarely get more than 5-6 hours of sleep a night, but i've been functioning on that so long, I think my body is just used to it. My motto is "I'll sleep when i'm dead." haha :)
  • eryn · 1 year ago
i know what you mean about missing something. it's lame!

i am going to say 10, because i am trying to go to bed at. there was a few days last semester i went to bed at 10 every night..
it was easier when i had to wake up early for school.
    it's summer now.

    (: where's the motivation?

    there is none.

i went to bed an hour ago and started playing with my phone.
    now i'm here.

    ughh.
ps. i stayed up until 1:30 because of that show last night...man.
  • Lindsey · 1 year ago
Well...right now I'm recovering from surgery and in the most pain at night, so I'm kinda up all night and sleeping a lot during the day.

I'm the kind of person who needs like...12 hours to function properly haha. Slight exaggeration, but I love to sleep and need a LOT of it. Last semester I tried to make sure I got 8 hours a night...sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. But I try!
  • alicia · 1 year ago
I go to sleep around 1 or 1:30ish every night and am up by 8 or 9 am depending on how late my kid will sleep. I need 6 hours to function properly though. :)
  • TLC · 1 year ago
I hate sleeping, at least until I get there. Then I think, "Dang, this is nice, why didn't I go to bed earlier?" I go to bed anywhere from 12:30 a.m. to sometimes 3 a.m. I do my best writing late at night, and it is hard to give it up. I am constantly interrupted during the day because I homeschool. Once the kids are in bed is MY time. That is hard to give up. My husband is the same way. We acutally enable one another, thinking we are waiting for the other one to go bed. Sometimes, I will say to him, "Hey, we need to go to bed, why are we up?" And he will say, "I was waiting for you!" We get up around 8:30-9 a.m. I'll sleep when I'm dead.

It's 3:30am, just got in from the gym, I open up my Google reader and I see your face with the question "When do you sleep??" Very funny!

    The answer??
    about 4:30 to 11:30 am

    I love the afternoon shift!!
  • Kristy · 1 year ago
I love to sleep, but it's 4:45 and I just nursed dear daughter to sleep for the second time tonight. Goodnight, I'm going back to bed.
  • skiescolliiide · 1 year ago
I head to bed around 11, waking up around 6.. on a good a day. I probably average between 4-6 hours of sleep a night. Sometimes I sleep 6 hours a weekend.

    yeah, my body hates me.
  • artgood · 1 year ago
Usually in bed by 11:30 or midnight. Up by 6:00/6:30.

I also hate sleeping. I need 24 hours of activity, not 18!
  • JTCrespo · 1 year ago
I used to think that I could function on 5-6 hours of sleep a night until last week. I had only slept that long every night for years. I decided to change everything and started getting 8 hours of sleep every night. I was amazed at how much of a difference it made. Days seem longer now because I'm more productive. I go to bed earlier and I wake up earlier. I also came to the realization that nothing will happen in those hours at night that I can't take 5 minutes to catch up on in the morning. ;)

Last night I only had 5 hours of sleep and my body is angry about it this morning. My eyes are heavy and I have strange muscle aches. So I guess that means I'm an 8 hour convert.
  • Emily · 1 year ago
If I don't get enough sleep, I turn into an emotional disaster. It's ugly friends, really ugly. I need at least 7 hours. I do better on 8. In bed by 10ish. Up at 5 to get in my Ragumuffintop run.
  • Scott Williams · 1 year ago
    6-7 hrs. 11:00 pm to 6:00 am
  • Leftysings429 · 1 year ago
Sleep? What is this sleep you speak of? Typcially I go to bed around 12 - 1 a.m. I'll usually go to bed "early" (11:00-11:30) once a week to catch-up. I love the after 10:00 time usually - that's when everyone else is in bed and it's "my time". I'm up and moving by 6:00 every morning. Two cups of coffee later and everything is happy!
  • C.C. aka LorelaiCC · 1 year ago
I need lots of sleep! I typically go to bed around 10pm, but watch tv until around 11pm and then sleep until around 8am. I'm in for a rude awakening when I get a job that won't let me have that much sleep.
  • Carole Turner · 1 year ago
10 pm is when I like to be in bed, usually fast asleep by 11pm. I get up bettween 7 or 8am. I love to sleep. I love 9 hours of sleep but can function on 8.
  • vagabondrunn · 1 year ago
5 hrs of sleep - I'm great, ready to go, happy, an amazing listener and great at relating to what you have to say so I can help you in any way I can.

4 hrs or less of sleep - I will probably be rude and unconcerned about anything you tell me. I might also make small cuts at you unknowingly. Then feel good about doing so until the next day.

Usually to bed around midnight...up around 7 with the kiddos. 6 - 7 hours is usually what I need to function well. When i get more, it usually makes me more tired during the day.
  • jesse "fuser" santoyo · 1 year ago
I still can't get my mind to stop racing at night...My wife hates it...but she loves me. LOL.
  • Steve Dunham · 1 year ago
I usually go to sleep around 11-12... give me 7 hours and I am happy. Unfortunately, I usually only sleep 5-6 hours.
  • Kim @ Forever Daisies · 1 year ago
When I am awake, I hate going to sleep. I toss and turn and I too feel like I'm going to miss something, or I could still be working on ___. However once I fall asleep, i L O V E it!

To feel refreshed I need about 9 hours of sleep. I normally get 6.
  • Shannon Smith · 1 year ago
I feel like I am wasting time when I sleep. Some of my most productive times are between 11PM and 2AM.

I rarely go to bed before midnight, but when I lay down I go to sleep almost immediately. I usually wake up when ever our son does, which lately has been 8:30.
  • dionicio · 1 year ago
    Sleep is overated!
  • John Ireland · 1 year ago
usually in bed around 11:30 and sleep for 8 hours.

    can function on 6, prefer 7 - 8.
  • Susie · 1 year ago
I usually go to bed around midnight, but it just depends if my husband and I get stuck watching looking up funny stuff on youtube or a blog. I need about 7-9 hours sleep. Funny that I just did a post of sleep this morning (or lack there of).
  • Chris Baker · 1 year ago
I usually go to bed between 1 and 4 am...get up around 9:30 to 10:30. I hate my sleeping habits, but this is about normal for me. A lot of times I am just thinking and doing stuff on the computer, I could easily go to bed if I weren't wide awake.
  • Liz · 1 year ago
4 is usual - 2 can be functional - 12 is optimal, though highly unlikely ...
  • pinkcamojeep · 1 year ago
8:00-8:30 pm until 3:30 or 4:30 am! Looks like I'm the odd man out on the list. I get around 7 to 8 hours of rest a night. Basically, it's the same thing the rest of you do, only I get a little more sleep and I get my "alone" or "quiet" time after I've slept, instead of before. It's so much better to greet my kids in the morning awake, alert and happy rather than grumpy and tired.
  • The Domestic Goddess · 1 year ago
I sleep as soon as I can. 10pm most nights and up by 6:30, if I am running a little late. I need eight hours, minimum. I also nap for an hour while my kids are at school OR ELSE. Because I won't make it through the rest of the evening.
  • AuntieB · 1 year ago
It depends on what's going on with my schedule.Right now, it's going to bed somewhere around 11 (as late as 12:30 if I'm working on something important), and up at 6:30.

I usually don't rest. I had a sleep study done. They told me that I sleep, but I don't rest. I would testify to that whole-heartedly. Besides, I am totally agreeing with Kim about "I could be working on __".

I took a quiz one time about how much stuff you do in a day and how it all adds up. They told me that I cram in 28-30 hours worth of stuff into a 24 hour day. Some of you aren't that lucky.

    I'll be praying for you...
  • chadwick · 1 year ago
1030p-630a - got to have my beauty rest. :) I love my sleep & don't function very well without. really late noghts or really eraly mornings kill me & usually throw me off for the rest of the week.
  • Kevin M. · 1 year ago
Usually 11p-7a. I too LOVE my sleep. If I get less than 7 hours of sleep I don't function very well. I also have one day a week where I get to sleep 9 or 10 hours. :D
  • Amy · 1 year ago
Lately 12-1. When we had little ones we'd go out as soon as they did at 9 but now they sleep through, I appreciate my quiet house. I sleep in until 8:30-9 though.
  • Jay Sellers · 1 year ago
We've got this 2 to 10 sleep schedule going, which works for us but not for my customers that call at 8 am and wake me up.
  • Boomer · 1 year ago
I used to go to bed at 4am and get up at 8am. At the time I worked two jobs. God lead me to trust him and not try to work so much and do it myself. Now, I go to bed at 10:30pm and get up around 7am. Man, a night of sleep feels great.
  • Jake · 1 year ago
I try to go to bed before 1 am. My wife often times gets me to bed by 10pm :-)

I need more sleep than I get...I call myself a dinker. I dink around until the wee hours of the morning. When I have to wake up at 6am I always think "Why didnt I go to bed sooner"
  • Chris Meirose · 1 year ago
My sleep schedule is a train wreck. Up until I became Senior Pastor at Easter this year, I was working as a waiter in a restaurant full time, all evenings, 5 days a week. This meant I went to work around 4:00PM and then got home late - often 12:00AM or later. By that point I really needed to wind down, an would get to bed between 3:00-4:00AM most nights. Since I've moved into full time ministry, my schedule has had to change, but the schedule is still screwy. It's screwy because I am commuting to my church from 80 miles away while we try to find a place to live and a job for my wife. So for 3 days a week I literally live at the church and don't go home. It's great because I get a lot of work done. It's bad because my schedule is bizarre. While staying at the church I stay up until about 12:00AM and then read for a while - often things related to an upcoming sermon. I rarely get more than 30 minutes of reading before my eyes are heavy and my retention is low. I then get up around 7:15AM The other nights of the week I get to bed around 12:00AM, but no reading, and I get to sleep in later, until like 8:00AM. This is true for every day except Saturday night. I'm often up until midnight on Saturday night fine tuning my sermon, doing my last run through or two. I then have to get up at 6:00AM to get ready and then drive to church, which starts at 9:00AM. Tuesdays when I commute down to the church I get up around 5:30AM. This past Monday (yesterday) I had to get up at 5:00AM since we have VBS all week, and that starts at 8:00AM. To make Monday morning worse, I was up until 1:00AM doing laundry for the week, since I will be away from home from Monday morning until Sunday evening. Then the following week I fly out to Boston for a denominational conference!

    So yeah, yikes!

    Big Chris

I go to bed around midnight, go right to sleep and get up at 6am M-F. I'm not so much afraid I'm going to miss something, but the only daily "ME" time I get is after everyone else is asleep.
  • Giant Idiot · 1 year ago
I go to bed at 9 because my wife and I wake up at 4:30 in the morning to go to the gym (need to work on my Ragamuffin challenge.) If I did not go to the gym I can function very well on 4 hours of sleep (Army training).
  • Renee Garcia · 1 year ago
I go to sleep around midnight, and on a good day I get up at 8am... but Keeghan usually wakes up 2-3 times a night because he's a mean, mean baby! haha How much sleep do I need?! About 3 weeks worth! LOL
  • Rachel · 1 year ago
11 or 11:30p until 7 or 7:30a. I do well on 8+ hours. I catch a power nap at lunch some days (15-20 min). A year ago, when I was still in college, I could make it on 5-6 hours, no problem.

    Of course...coffee changes everything.
  • Meghan · 1 year ago
Typically I am in bed by 2-3am. I do some of my best writing in the wee hours of the morning. I call it "tomesterday".

I take naps occasionally and sometimes, when I can, I'll sleep in for as LONG AS I CAN.
  • RachelB · 1 year ago
I LOVE MY BED!!! Seriously, it's one of my most important relationships. And since my love languages are personal touch and quality time, I need to feel those blankies around me for at LEAST 8 hours every night. I find that our most special time together is achieved from about 11pm-7am, but it usually looks more like 12midnight-8am. As long as it's 8 hours, I can function well and keep my friends. : )
  • petec999 · 1 year ago
I try to be in bed between 10 and 11 (especially if I want some of the good lovin'!). I normally get 7 hours a night. If I want more I need to get to bed sooner as the thee little people who live in my house are usually up by 7am and if the dog doesn't get a walk...well let's just say that can be problematic.
  • Brittney Ekberg · 1 year ago
so really, I can go days without sleep. I don't like to but it happens. Since I work nights I don't sleep then and I hate to miss what is going on during the day (hence the reason I work nights) Lately, I've had 3 hours of sleep in a total of 51 hours. Again, I don't recommend it.
  • Crystal Renaud · 1 year ago
for a good 3 years now, i've gone to sleep between 1:30am and 2am most nights. giving me approximately 6-6.5 hours of sleep a night. i haven't functioned very well in 3 years. :)
  • Joni · 1 year ago
In "Joniworld", this would be my perfect schedule...

Wake up 8 am; come to life at 9 am and go about my day
    Wind down 2:30-3:30 pm
    Nap 3:30-5:00 pm ish
Up and about til 7:30 pm
Wind down til 8 pm and go to sleep
    Up at 10 pm-1 am
    Back to bed til 8

But I don't live in "Joniworld" so I'll just have to trudge around like the rest of you.
  • debbie d. · 1 year ago
in a perfect world I would get 9 hours of sleep every night from around 1030ish to 730ish...currently I'm running on a bout 7.5-8 and frankly, it's killing me...gone are the days of surviving on 4-5hours a night.
  • Steven · 1 year ago
I know exactly what you're saying. I try to sleep between 8 and 9 hours a night. Often when I'm with friends or busy at night and leave to go to bed, I get really nervous that I'll miss out on the fun or whatever. I end up lying in bed worried that I'll be tired AND miss out on whatever's going on.
  • Dustin · 1 year ago
I'm in the same boat as TLC above. Wife and I both stay up until around 1AM or later (it's 1:22AM now). Both wish we would have gone to bed earlier, but when you put the kids to bed around 8-ish, it's nice to have 5 or 6 hours of adult-only time.
  • jessica · 1 year ago
    yes bridezillas!!!!!!
ummmm i absolutely LOVE sleep. the end.
when i was in HS & college, my body was use to getting anywhere between 3-7 hrs. now that i'm out, my body is unhappy if i get less then 8. funny how our bodies adapt & change our schedules....
  • Bradford Singleton · 1 year ago
I usually go to sleep sometime after 1 and wake up around 6, so I'll get somewhere just under 5 hours of sleep.

I think that's why God created Vault soda/energy drink, and Starbucks.
  • Nick · 1 year ago
Usually around 1:00 am - 1:30 am and I am usually up around 7:00 am - 7:30 am - I usually function just fine, but find myself crashing early at the office on Fridays. I guess it all catches up to me then!
