waste of time... who can actually afford the thing?
  • Todd · 1 year ago
I only wasted 3:00 watching but was entertained the entire time.

as i watched that video, i cried a little.

There must be a market or Apple wouldn't make it. But for me, not enough juice under the hood. Launchpad for other advancements me thinks:)
  • tony · 1 year ago
it would make a good second computer. i need alot of computer guts to run adobe software to my liking, but my wife just uses an old laptop we got off craigslist for 100 bucks. shes never even used the optical drive. when it craps out, i could see this being a good replacement.
  • brian · 1 year ago
i think its just a bit ahead of its time. the optical drive sharing is pretty shweet, but i don't think many people (including myself) really see its viability right now. i agree with mike... a "launchpad for other advancements"

Its 1st generation...and proving Apples track record...its only going to get better.

It's a novelty for a niche market to be sure. But that didn't stop me from drooling as the guy unpacked the box!

Who makes a computer with no DVD drive? Duh. Complete waste of time.
  • tunz · 1 year ago
niche market, but yeah, it's sexy. But I'll just be content with my MBP.

I think it is a step in the next generation... an LED backlit macbook pro would have killer battery time, a solid state 160 gig hard drive wouldn't die as fast as ones with a platter... I think it is ground breaking, but I won't buy one... I need my drive, I need things it doesn't have... more ports, etc. But I'm excited to see where that technology goes. Heck I want that track pad too! I'm waiting to buy my MBP... I'm betting we will see a few of these things on the next version...

I don't think I'll give up my MBP, but the Air is a pretty cool deal. Like it or not, Apple's industrial design and packaging are the best in the industry. Every other piece of computer hardware I unpack is frustrating. Apple's stuff makes me say, "Ahhh, this is how it should be..."

I think its great. besides who uses cds when you buy straight from Itunes plus play dvds when their is netflix online among others.

Hey, I'm carrie, and I'm a new reader.

    you rock :)

i couldn't keep from drooling as it came unpacked. Its so pretty!!! But would I actually use it? Probably not. Right now, its more of a "look at me" thing I think.

Maybe if i was in school, and it had a wireless router, i would use it. But not now.

I just pee peed in my pants... but just a little.
  • Dale Best · 1 year ago
As he's opening the box and showing the product off, it's like he's presenting the set-up to a magic trick...like he's about to cut it in half (god forbid!) or make it disappear (god forbid, again!).

yeah, its 1st gen, for sure. more to come, i'm guessing. it's nice, but over time, it's tomorrow's 8-track.

it would take me about 30 seconds to break the thing in half. seriously. w-o-t on so many levels (fun to look at though).
  • Reid Greven · 1 year ago
Yeah - waste of time. 'Cause if that boy can't put audio on his YouTubes, then he's got no business with a Mac Book Air. It's like giving a teenager a Ferrari.

Unless, of course, you all watched it with some kind of sound and mesmerizing dialogue. In which case I'd need to give back my MacBook Pro and humbly use Windows 95...
  • beccity · 1 year ago
I think it does have a dvd drive
  • Mr. Police Man · 1 year ago
Waste! But I'll take one anyways
  • Nicholas · 1 year ago
Totally pointless. Wow, Apple made it smaller, and took away a lot of stuff that most people use everyday. And yet people are going to gobble it up because it has the Apple logo printed on it, and it's the latest and greatest thing that Steve Jobs hath crapped out. And it costs approximately the gross national product of a small country. Let's not forget Apple's past mistakes, such as the iMac and the iBook.

    Both...

I'm thinking you could buy something a little heavier and have a lot more left over for Starbucks.
