If only I lived in authentic community sharing all that I have (even w/those I do not like), they'd know I was different and see the radical love of Christ in me.

(not you, Los, I'm just filling in the blank. You know the old St. Francis of Assisi quote..."Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words.")

Submit to Christ. As the church we are His bride. Submission is so counter-cultural and so necessary for us to get out of the way of God using us.

I think @TheSecretLifeOfKat said it best - shut up - I think that has challenged me the most over the past few years. beyond that, I'd have to say "sacrifice", because "love" and so many other words have been so distorted and redefined by culture, but it's hard to distort/redefine sacrifice (I take that back, I'm sure culture would say "not buying an iPhone" is "sacrifice". oh, well, I stand on "shut up" then.

When Louie did his sermon "Fruitcake and Ice Cream" one thing he read from Ashley's journal when she was talking about her Christian roommate was something like this: "And she actually reads her Bible, I know because I see it move around a lot, the kitchen, the living room." That phrase really struck me to the core for some reason. She wasn't preachy. She just lived the life. I want that.

  • Shayne · 1 year ago
realize that people don't really need to know I'm a Christian...so I should stop worrying about whether I'm giving off a "Christ-vibe" and just be.

What they need to know is that they are loved incomprehensibly and unconditionally.
