- We need to be asking more questions than giving more answers. No, we need to be listening and acting more than giving answers....and I need to practice what I preach. - God is actively engaged with every human being on the planet. Yes, He is...whether people like it or not - When Ted Haggard goes into Christian rehab and walks out three weeks later saying he is cured and no longer gay…the world knows he is lying. Why don’t we? Becuase most of us struggle with some sort of addictive sin and know how difficult it can be. Yes, after three weeks, I was as strong as an ox in my faith......now I struggle with it daily.......see my "hair day" post. - We need to let their minds catch up with what their soul already knows. Now that's etheral if I've ever read it.....

I haven't read the book. I'm waiting til my toddlers are in college. So with that disclaimer of the context of his remarks, here's my dissertation.
Yes. There is a deep craving or hunger in everyone's soul. We all(in one form or another)try to satiate ourselves but don't know how. Have you ever just stood staring into the frig feeling hungry but not knowing for what? I think that's how "the world" deals with their soul. "Let's see, what do I need, what do I need...hmm. Well, I don't know but let's try some shopping. No that didn't work, hmm, how about sex, yes that's it. No that's not it. Hmm, wait, I think I need to come clean about some things. Ooh that's uncomfortable so that can't be right. Here's a drink, that helps and maybe a drug or two. That feels pretty good. Well, actually, I can't feel a thing. That'll do for now."
There is a Margaret Becker quote from her "Soul" CD liner notes: "there is a moment in time when the knowledge of love and the experience of love precriously meet to form one brilliant point of rest for the soul."
When the mind and heart catch up with each other.

More great stuff by Erwin. I'm half way through that book right now. It's an awesome entry point for those you know are searching for something but don't know what for. I already have two people on my list to buy it for.

Oh my, when did this book come out and how did I miss it?!?!? Thanks for the nuggets. I envy your ability to just drop by and peep in on what Erwin's doing. I've got to say though, Joni just used the best illustration I've heard for man's longing for 'something more.' I love that! I hope you stole it from someone b/c I'd like to steal it from you :) I can't wait to read the book, just thumbing through it was very exciting!

This was such a great read! I read Barbarian Way also. I have quite a few laughs over his podcasts as well. He really knows how to capture his audience.
