I am curious to see how your experience was when you tried it out. I agree with you on the syncing. That helped sway my decision because I felt like I did not lose all of my comments just by testing them out.

Is it any better or worse than Intense Debate or about the same?

intensedebate is neat... and it's got a nice auttomatic leg to stand on, but still doesn't compare. js-kit is another i've demo'd.

I love Disqus and have been using it on my blog for a few months now. I tried a different, to remain unnamed, service and it blew everything up! Disqus has been very stable and very helpful when it comes to customer service.

And considering it is free... that's a pretty awesome thing to see.

Also, Disqus seems to be taking on in a LOT of blogs and BIG sites with commenting systems. I agree that it does take "commenting" to a whole new level that runs parallel to the blog and not necessarily subservient to the blog.

You know.. I might just try and implement this now on my blog. When I checked Disqus out a few months back there was no ability to import or sync comments with your local WP database. Now that you can, it's not like you're making an eternal commitment. You can simply back out at any time!

Well, this is interesting. I was only hoping to direct some of you to the "50 Words Or Less" challenge at http://twentytwowords.com/. I wrote my blog post (please check it out) and was so glad Abraham Piper allowed us to use 28 more words than he uses per day!

I like the system, have been asked about implementing it on a few other blogs but still checking it out... it does work well for those blogs who have such a high volume of comments that a little more organization is needed (like RS here), but I wonder what WP2.7 is going to have as well.

Great that you are able to put this in place, love how it keeps the history of the comments in the profile, and a gravatar of course, that really creates some recognition between commenters.

I think I like Disqus' setup better where you can actually see what other comments people have left. I am not all that familiar with Intense Debate, but it seems like that was not quite as easily done.

I have to say a big thanks to Human3rror also. I saw his post on the ChurchCrunch website (I think) and had to add the plugin. It is awesome!

I also like the meet your commenters plugin he recommends. How did I ever go without that one??

I am digging the Disqus concept Waiting however to see if it's direct competition Intense Debate gets implemented into one of the upcoming releases of WordPress (seeing as it has been purchased by WP parent company Automattic)
