    Chocolate chess pie. The richest, chocolateiest, most yummy chocolate pie in the world. I don't necessarily just eat it at Thanksgiving, but I don't think I've ever made it more than once a year. Because I like my arteries. And having a waist.

    My mom's cajun cornbread dressing. I'm making it this year since I won't be in Baton Rouge. I've never had anyone taste it that did not say it was the best they have ever had. Yummy.

    The turkey sandwich the next day with everything (and I mean everything!) on it!
  • andy · 2 years ago
    yo... my mom makes the same kind of butter, sugar, pretzels but with strawberries and jell-o. This is the first year that I have been away from family on turkey day and I just told my wife she should make that for me this year.

    She laughed.

    oh well.

    Pumpkin Cheesecake with a gingersnap crust and maple glaze topping... OMG! It is so good!

    Adding all of the favorites from the above comments we could make the perfect meal!

    Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving! My prayer is that you have much for which to be thankful!

    ummmmm, my Moms' candied sweet potatoes, I scored the recipe a long time ago, and good thing too, because she is no longer with us, so if you love a loved ones recipe, GET IT! Their legacy of delish food will at least live on.... I make everyone else love it too, since that is what I always volunteer to make...

    ::: sniffle :::

    I miss On The Border. They don't have them here in Orlando.

    I like it all verra much. I think though... the thing that brings me delight is memories of my Great Granny's Chocolate pie and my Mama's deviled eggs.

    :::mmmm:::

    Dinner rolls. You know, when you butter them up and put them in the microwave for 20 seconds.

    I don't care if that sounded dumb. I'm very thankful for my dinner rolls.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

    I used to make the usual sweet potatoes w/marshmallows and they didn't get eaten except by me. Then I found this awesome recipe for a casserole with them half mashed and a topping of pecans, brown sugar, flour and butter. Now everyone loves them and I can't wait. I guess it's big in the south, but pretty much unheard of here in Ohio. YUMMY!!
  • Jen · 2 years ago
    My family's secret recipe of stuffing or, "dressin'" as they call it in the South. It is the best there is and I will eat more of that than anything else!

    Ooh, oooh, oooooh. Definitely my mama's stuffing. Not your standard Stove Top this....it's full of yummy apples, raisins, carrots, red wine, olives, a little ground beef and turkey neck. Wooo boy. Sounds really nasty but it is straight up delish. That and mom's homemade bread. I use it sort of as a plate for the butter. Real butter. Wooo boy....I'm so full right now that my pj bottom seams are at maximum capacity. :)
