I get angry (I believe rightfully so) and think, "They should identify everyone they can from the wal-mart security camera and arrest them!"

Then I get sad and think to pray... that God would change our nation's heart, that God would work in lives, that God would heal the pain of those who lost their loved one, that God would give us perspective, that God would show grace and mercy and that God would begin with me.

That really turns my stomach. It is a sad but true statement as to how far we, as a society, have gotten away from the true meaning of Christmas. We all need to take cues from Linus of the Peanuts gang, as he explains the true meaning of Christmas in Charlie Brown Christmas

"Black Friday" ironically and sadly lives up to (down to?) its name.

Sickened and appalled. Anyone who entered that building during those times when that worker was trampled should be ashamed.

I wasn't shocked by this report, usually I'm out about 4:00 a.m. each Black Friday, with a video crew filming for our Christmas series. This year we are doing something different..thank goodness! But it does get rough!

What we usually find most ridiculous isn't so much the stampede at the beginning, but the disgruntled people coming out that didn't get what they waited 5 hours in line for. Why can't they just spread out the savings over the month I will never know!

My husband and I slowly strolled into WalMart about 10:00 this morning, the frenzy was gone and we still got everything we went for except for one camera that was gone!

This report was just sickening...our society has gone crazy!

Local gasoline prices have rebounded to $1.75⁹ per gallon during Thursday. I was hoping for a sluggish Black Friday weekend so investors will still stay skittish and trade oil lower. This does not look good, in more ways than one.

when Don and I lived in Santa Clarita a few years back it was another holiday weekend and a man was hit by a car, 7 cars ran him over before someone stopped , it is so very sad to think people don't think. Mercy, Prayer , Forgiveness. i with Angie

They should go through Wal-Mart's receipt records, look at the first 500 purchases made that morning, since the date and time are printed right on the receipt anyway and of course Wal-Mart has those records, and arrest those first 500 shoppers for at least vandalism and breaking and entering since they broke the doors BEFORE the store was even open. Then they can find a way to nail them for murder based on the surveillance video.

Ok first - yes this is sad.

Second... everyone here making comments like the "worship of stuff" and "how far we've gotten away from the true meaning of Christmas"... c'mon... are you serious?? I guess all of you folks don't buy presents for Christmas. No stuff at your house huh?? This isn't about the worship of stuff, it's a sociological factor at play here. This also isn't about Christmas at all. Get some perspective and stop being so myopic. Geesh.

Third... Walmart is to blame as much as anyone. This was a terrible tragic accident but the responsibility lies at the feet of Walmart...not the individuals.

Are you serious? This isn't just about buying presents. This is about them being so lustfully hungry that they killed a person. And no one stopped to help him because they were worried about getting their god forsaken discounts. Not the same as just casually going Christmas shopping like normal human beings. Not the same. At all.

And who created the event where these people were gathered... who created the "hunger"... who fed the beast. WalMart. They didn't provide adequate security or crowd control when a couple of thousand people gathered to "enter" the store. I am saying the responsibility for this death is Walmart first and foremost. I am certain they will pay quite a settlement...at least I hope so.

Also, I doubt anyone could stop to help him or they too would have been knocked down and trampled. As you said, it wasn't a casual situation but a stampede. The whole scene is sad and tragic...
